Turning back time at 36

Hello,

I've decided that it's time. Time for me to shed the extra weight. Time for me to clear out the years of gunk building in my veins and arteries. Time for me to regain my life!

My title may be confusing, so let me explain. I've tried the popular P90X workout and it is great. Recently, I've tried another product from Beachbody called "Insanity". Let me tell you... IT IS INSANE! However, at my age (36) it's also hard on the joints. There is a ton of jump training in back-to-back days, and it was just too much. So, here is what I've done.

I took the best of P90X and the best of Insanity and I've combined them for one awesome workout! On Mon, Wed, and Fri, I do the Insanity cardio stuff. On Tues and Thur, I do the P90X stuff. I match the workouts with what the program says to do on the first month. It may sound complicated, but it's really not. Let the X-Sanity begin!!

Feel free to add comments or post questions and I'll be glad to try and answer them. No laughing at my pics, though!

Week 14 - Monday

Since Insanity's Max Plyo nearly killed us last week, we decided to start our week off with that one! LOL And wow what a way to start a week, especially after yesterday's Easter food! 

I hope to get some new stats up next week with maybe some new photos...

Week 13 - Thur

Started off today's workout by doing Insanity's warm-up for 13 minutes and then putting in P90X's Kenpo workout for some different cardio work.  The problem is that I'm in such good cardio shape right now, Kenpo just doesn't get the job done.  I was doing 3 foot box jumps during the break in order to get my HR back up... this workout is fun, but I don't think I can do it anymore if I'm looking for a good cardio workout.

Week 13 - Wed

Back in it today and had some making up to do since yesterday was a disaster.  We did Insanity Max Plyo, which is new to us and that really got the HR up fast!  I'm not sure if I've ever been this sweaty after a workout, but I'm glad I was able to give it my all after what happened yesterday!

Week 13 - Tues - Back & Bis

I had probably my worst workout of this entire program today.  I'm not sure what was wrong.... I felt tired and to be honest uninterested.  I finally pulled the plug about 20 minutes into it before I hurt myself since I was getting sloppy.

Week 13 - Mon

We did a killer Insanity Max Cardio Conditioning today!  Remember, this is the one that does NOT give a break for like 50 minutes or so... well, you get a short break after the warm-up, but after that.. its on!  What a way to start the week!

Week 12 - Shoulders & Arms

Mixing it back up again today, but this time it's because that's what the P90X program tells you to do!  At the end of their program you mix it up each week so that you don't do the same workout again for 2 weeks.  Anyway, today's workout was pretty awesome... my arms feel like lead weights right now as I type this post... and I've already had a shower!  Oh, I also did a short 20 min run after my workout for a little extra cardio work.  Since I detest jogging, I do a sprint, walk, sprint, walk type of run.  I like it and my HR spikes about every minute or so!

Week 12 - Back in the Saddle

Trying to get back in the saddle after take a few... OK, several... ALRIGHT, many days off.  My workout partner, John Huey, lost his grandfather-in-law who happened to be a very popular man around the area, state, and nation.  Anyway, he was unavailable from Thur - Tues dealing with family issues.  I also took some time off to work on my schoolwork.

Anyway, I did workout on Thursday, but it was only half-hearted and not worth noting... However, today we did, or I should say tried to do, one of the Insanity's MAX cardio workouts... I hit my HR max (183) no less than 6 times and was just bloody sick by the time the 50 minute workout was over.

Week 11 - Wed - MAX Insanity

I had another very tough workout thanks to the Insanity program... this time we did the Max Insanity Cardio Conditioning workout.  The main difference in this one is that it is a few minutes shorter than the other Max workouts at around 48 minutes, but there are NO BREAKS!  Yes, of course I had to take a few breathers, but nothing longer than about 15-20 seconds to grab a sip of water and then back at it.

Week 11 - Tues - Back & Bis

I started this workout off with a 20 min run... not jog... run.  I was still huffing and puffing as I started this DVD, and did the best I could but I have to say that I ran out of steam toward the end and skipped the last 3 exercises because I was losing form and didn't want to injure myself... again.  Better safe than sorry.  Oh, I almost forgot... since my ab workout was awful yesterday, I did it again after the run and before the workout... so today's workout was very long.

Week 11 - Mon - MAX Insanity

Yes, you read that right... I did Insanity's MAX workout today... for those of you that don't know - the Insanity series is a beast by itself, but they have a few MAX Insanity workouts that are.... well, INSANITY!  The workout is an hour long and it starts off making you sweat by the 3rd minute.  I also did P90X Abs workout afterward, but to be honest that is impossible to do after a 1 hour super high intense cardio workout, so I was only able to half-ass it.

Week 10 - Fri - Mix & Match

Did a nice mix & match workout today that was pretty fun.  We put in P90X Chest and Back DVD and followed it for the first round exactly, but in the 2nd round we substituted back exercises with biceps... and chest exercises with triceps.  It turned out to pretty a pretty intensive workout to do going into the weekend.
