Weight - 166 (down 3.5 pounds)
I had a pretty active weekend. On Sat and Sunday my wife and I took the kids to the park where there are a few nature trails. Sat was easy, but Sunday we did a pretty tough hike... several times I had to help pick up the stroller to cover the terrain. I have pics, maybe I will add one soon.
Anyway, today's workout wasn't too bad. Today was Pure Cardio again from the Insanity program. This is the one where there isn't any water breaks after the main portion gets rolling. I had to take 3 breaks at about 30 seconds each, but that's not too bad for week 2. My left hip is a tad sore. I'm not sure if it is from the Friday Ab workout (you use a lot of hip flexors during Abs) or from the hiking... oh well, I'll have to be careful.
Turning back time at 36
Hello,
I've decided that it's time. Time for me to shed the extra weight. Time for me to clear out the years of gunk building in my veins and arteries. Time for me to regain my life!
My title may be confusing, so let me explain. I've tried the popular P90X workout and it is great. Recently, I've tried another product from Beachbody called "Insanity". Let me tell you... IT IS INSANE! However, at my age (36) it's also hard on the joints. There is a ton of jump training in back-to-back days, and it was just too much. So, here is what I've done.
I took the best of P90X and the best of Insanity and I've combined them for one awesome workout! On Mon, Wed, and Fri, I do the Insanity cardio stuff. On Tues and Thur, I do the P90X stuff. I match the workouts with what the program says to do on the first month. It may sound complicated, but it's really not. Let the X-Sanity begin!!
Feel free to add comments or post questions and I'll be glad to try and answer them. No laughing at my pics, though!

Last day of the first week!
I made it! Week 1 in the bag!
Today, I we did a 18 minute Cardio Abs session from the Insanity program and we followed that with doing a full warm-up session of exercises, except instead of going easy/moderate for rounds 1 and 2 during the warm-up, we did all 3 rounds at full blast! That was a tough workout. My abs are tired, but really I felt it in my hip flexors... very painful. All together it was a very productive 30 minute workout. Now, where is my Friday cocktail as a reward???

Shoulder and Arms - Thursday
I thought my chest would feel better today, but it doesn't. Not at all. And to make matters worse, last night the same guy who got me in the chest with the baseball bat also got a hold of my back! Tuesday's workout seems to taking a few days to heal from... Anyway, today was a beast too, but since I was working smaller muscle groups, my energy seemed to last a bit longer.
Here is the workout:

Insanity Plyo - Wednesday
Today is Wednesday, so back to the Insanity set for a wonderful Plyo workout. For those of you that don't know, Plyo training is similar to jump training. Since there is already a ton of jumping in the Insanity DVDs, the Plyo was off the charts. Extremely difficult, but I did complete the workout.
As a side note, it feels like somebody beat the hell out off my chest with a baseball bat. During the warm-up, jumping jacks felt like absolute murder on my pecs. Why am I putting myself through this??

First P90X Chest and Back Workout
OK, today was my first Chest and Back workout. The exhaustion kind of sneaked up on me compared to yesterday. Where as yesterday I was huffing and puffing after the first few minutes, today I never really lost my breath, but by the time I started the second round of the exercises I was exhausted and my chest and arms were pumped!
Here is my workout sheet:

First Workout
Weight - 169.5
My first workout sucked. Not really... it was awesome, but a near death experience did occur around the 28 min mark!
We did a workout called "Pure Cardio". This comes from Phase 1 of the Insanity package. I did about 9 minutes of warm-up (its not really a warm-up when you're sweating and gasping, but that's what they call it), followed by 6 minutes of stretching, very similar to yoga style. Then the fun began... about 22 minutes of hardcore action! There are no water breaks in this workout because it is so short, so I grabbed a few sips here and there. I did complete the workout. I'm tired, but glad its over.
